Winter Sports: Skiing, Snowboarding, Ice Hockey, Figure Skating
Dr Blecher has had an interest in winter sports since he learned to ski at age 4. He became an avid skier and snowboarder and joined the Ski Patrol while in college. During his fellowship he was an associate team physician for the AHL Cleveland Barons Ice Hockey team and he continues to see competitive hockey and figure skaters for many different types of injuries. Some of the more common skating injuries include hip and groin injuries like sportsmen’s hernia and hip impingement. Common skiing injuries include skier’s thumb, knee and shoulder injuries. Concussions are also a common injury for many winter sports and Dr Blecher offers baseline concussion testing for hockey players and other winter athletes.
In January I was faced with another full thickness tear in my rotator cuff and wondered what my options might be. Would it be another surgery or possibly something different? I was introduced to Dr. Andrew Blecher who thought I might be a candidate for the new Regenexx stem cell procedure. This new procedure has changed my life, given me a new shoulder and all without invasive shoulder surgery. I cannot explain how happy I am that I chose this method for my shoulder and now I feel great, have significantly less pain and 100% range of motion. Thank you Dr. Blecher and Regenexx.
